History made January 27, 2007. Winnipeg Golf Dome, 1030pm.
The 1st Annual Mazur Indoor Co-ed Tournament Championship final saw the undefeated Legends take on the 2nd place Titans, in a replay of the night before, round robin ending game, that saw the Legends eak out a 14-13 vitory over the Titans.
In a classic example of "on any given Sunday"... (er Saturday) any one can win,the Titans, stormed their way back to a classic Championship victory scoring 22 unanswered second half points, to defeat the previously undefeated Legends 42-16!!
Tied 16 -16 at the half, the Titans had Tds from Roxanne Coe and Gavin "the Hammer" Panchuk. Two 2-point converts were scored by Panchuk and Mike "no hat" Brownridge. Replying for the Legends, were the 2006 WTFL MVP, Wayne Jackson and the incredible Teresa Morden with 10 points, who played with a broken finger suffered the night before.
The second half saw the Titans shut down Mr. legend, Tim Shea and picked off three errant passes. (Two by Brownridge and one by Panchuk.) Leading the Titans scoring in the second half were Brownridge with 2 Tds, Sonja Leung with one and Panchuk with two 2, point converts, to nail the coffin shut!!!!
The tournament was a super success, with virtually no complaints and only positive feedback from all. Get ready Winnipeg,because they want more. Look for more co-ed action shortly.
